I saw this file months ago from @steph_crafting_rain and her project has never left my head. 🥰 She said it took about 1 hour and 50 minutes to weed. I had an idea for how to hack this process to cut down on time. I tried it and can you believe it took me less than 5 minutes to weed??? Cut through the carrier sheet and voila! This is great for mandalas where it’s all one big piece connected.

  • I used Poli-tape starflex black for the tiger mandala and Cricut foil HTV for the owl.

  • Both were mirrored and shiny side down on the cutting mat, and used the glitter cardstock setting on my maker to purposely cut through the carrier sheet.

  • This method only works for a project where you have a lot of weeding and it’s all one piece. The other project I think it can be used for is if there is a lot of layering but the pieces are big and easy to handle and you don’t want to risk the chance of burning your material … like a backpack.

  • This does not ruin your mat. It is just like cutting cardstock on your mat.

  • The carrier sheet stays on the project though so it’s very easy to pick up and transfer to the sweatshirt.

  • You press like you normally would … press, peel off the carrier sheet that is left. It took me a few minutes to carefully pull off the project from the mat, maybe another minute or two to remove some pieces that hung on.

    This is a great tool to have in your toolbox for the right project. Enjoy!!!!
