    Virtual Class:

    An’s Cake Topper

Make a cake topper with An! In this session you will learn how to layer, use HTV for smaller intricate details, and try out many different ways to add movement on a cake topper.

Objective - Assemble a layered cake topper with the battery operated clock mechanism (open to all levels).

Learn the tricks and art of layering a cake topper: There are so many layers to this cake topper using all the prettiest cardstock from 12x12 Cardstock Shop. A wide range from acetate to sequins glitter cardstock to a few different textured cardstock. And then there’s the dimensional aspect of layering. We will be using Bearly Art Cubies (both the strips and squares) to create depth.

Develop/understand your creative crafting style with colors and materials: This cake topper is very much the style that I’ve come to love which includes: lots of thin offsets, many layers, my favorite cardstock, Politape HTV, and movement.

Know which materials/tools and where to purchase: We will provide you a list of all the supplies and where you can get them for future projects.

Learn how to use movement on a cake topper: there is clock mechanism that you will assemble onto the cake topper to have the shamrock move in a circular motion and there will be charms swinging.

    Hands-on:

Assemble the entire cake topper along with An over Zoom.

  • JOSY'S PROJECT

A “Get Lucky” St. Patrick’s Day themed centerpiece full of different advanced techniques–from using 3D elements to learning how to solder a motor to achieve motion!

Objective - Assemble a 3D centerpiece and solder a DC motor to add a spinning element.

Soldering Basics: This segment will teach you how to solder any DC motor so you can enhance any project by adding a spinning mechanism. You will learn in a hands-on experience the basics of soldering, including working with an iron kit.

3D elements: From working with scalloped strips to making 3D platforms and bases, using the 3D technique not only gives you a sturdier project but also allows you to work with different crafting styles. Almost every element in this centerpiece is a fully 3D element, so be prepared for lots of folding!

Light techniques: We will be working not only with flashing fairy lights, but also using the Chibitronics technology of circuit lighting. By using a sensor magnet, we will be able to create circuits to light up specific elements within our centerpiece. This technique will not only enhance this centerpiece but you will be able implement it to your own crafts!

Types of material: From textured cardstock, vinyl, mylar, glitter and foil, you will learn when and how to use specific materials to add that special touch! All items are found in 12x12 Cardstock shop. craft.

    Hands-on:
